Blog : May 25, 2009Toy Soldier wins Jury Prize at Monaco Charity Film Festival 2009!
It is with great pride to write that a very special short we worked on in 2008 has become the recipient of the Jury Prize in the category of short film at the Monaco Charity Film Festival 2009 on May 16, 2009.
Toy Soldier was directed by Sa Chiaravanond and edited by Max Tersch. The synopsis: "A story about a 10 year old boy from Ayudya Province in Thailand who journeys into Bangkok to search for his mother, only to find that she works in the red light district." A truly heartfelt tale about a true heartbreaking story that is so unfortunately too true for many poor children on the streets of Asia. RED ALERT! RED ALERT! ![]() OK. We haven't' been bloggin for a while now and thought it a good time to produce one huge long sentence encapsulating everything that has been going on in the last couple months for this particular job in 140 characters and call it a day. And throw in a picture. Just kidding. No, we understand that there's a lot of blogs and micro-twitters and feeds out there, so we'll keep it light and informative okay? OK. Nobody's asking (hehe). The reason for such a quiet 1st quarter is that we have been busy "behind-the-scenes" on outside projects per se (book deals, fine art shows, sound mixes.. well, that's embellishing a bit, but it's not an untruth (Max is translating a Thai book and we've been bothering Rit at Nangmai's soundmixin at Ram Intra Studio. But back to POSTPROP'S POSTWORK: We have seen a swell in RED usage lately, so it's good that we have fully prepared and been assisting many many directors, friends, and partners with much RED support via FCP (Avid's a bit behind here). We've completed our heavy HEAVY 3.5 hour epic rough cut for THE LOST MEDALLION and they are back in L.A. with that now (it was a challenge syncing, sorting, and multi-clipping through footage produced by FOUR RED CAMS). Second, we are so so proud that NYMPH (MAX was assistant editor to great editor NUI YUKOL), new thai movie by Director PEN-EK Ratanaruang made it to Cannes in Un CertainRegard... results will be made tomorrow or something (very exciting for us all). Can't wait to see the film print ourselves once that hits Thai theatres sometime in July. And of course, there's a of RED work being done on commercials lately - we've helped on the workflow on two commercials for DOUBLE-A PAPER and SIAM CEMENT GROUP. The SCG commercial is very CG driven which the RED workflow was a breeze, skipping any sort of film scanning altogether! Our friends at ALTERNATE CG worked on it. What else... we did some promo's for BAAN BORAN a new Thai restaurant in Samui Island featuring Thai Kohn Puppetry (very cool). And we've helped edit a couple commercials for BIOGROW Thailand for some beauty supplements called "NUTRISS" which aired on TV during the Tiffany Pagent (o la la). That's it folks... until next time. And here's a photo as promised (the portable station we used on-site for THE LOST MEDALLION.)
